First Lost Tooth

She had a wiggly tooth, wiggly for months. Every day she would play with it and ask, how long before it falls out. 

Then she forgot about it. And it became even more wiggly.  We hoped it wasn't her sweet tooth as in the book Silverlicious.  We would talk about it, wiggle it, and blot blood.

More wiggles and more wiggles, friends losing teeth and her wondering, how long.  Finally it happened, on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, after lunch, the tooth came out (with a little help).

Mom tried to convince her the tooth fairy was dead, but she would hear nothing of it because she would visit her friends house.  So it was only HER tooth fairy that was gone, surely one of the others would step right?  So the tooth goes under the pillow. The next morning, so excited, she looks - the tooth is GONE and it's place - 2 quarters.  yay - right into the piggy bank they went with no delay. Luckily there was a substitute tooth fairy available. 

Then later, the question comes, "Mom, why didn't the tooth fairy leave a dollar?"  A DOLLAR!!! yep - the other tooth fairies must think highly of little teeth. Mom replied, "It was just a little tooth, maybe you'll get a dollar when you lose one of your big back teeth."  oh the anticipation has started now.

a Saint

Last week we visited the newly opened Sheels store in Sandy, UT.  This store rivals Cabela's!. The attractions, games, merchandise and all over size is amazing.  As we walked in there is a fish tank that you walk under - not really as good as the one at Cabela's. We wandered through the store, not only outdoor activity stuff, but regular stuff, and collegiate stuff, clothes stuff, games stuff, hunting stuff, just lots of stuff!  It's one of those stores where you aren't sure what to buy because there is too much and some how your wallet still makes an appearance at the registers, even if unplanned.  We played a couple games with Angela - well - her dad played with her, mom cheered her on at her success.  Dad is a complete saint!!!  the most eye catching attraction is a giant Ferris Wheel in the front middle of the store. We got the token for the ride, and Blake waited 45 minutes!!! in line with Angela. This is AFTER we had finished and were ready to leave.  We attempted to talk her out of it, but she had her token and she wasn't going to leave until she had ridden it.  So yes, dad was and still is a saint! 



 

Are you Jazzed?

A few weeks ago we went to the Jazz game. Blake found some tickets reasonably priced so we went for it. Angela and dad had a great time playing battleship on the train downtown, via iPhones. The app is pretty fun. Angela gets all excited when she sinks someones battleship, and, of course, doesn't like it too much when hers are sunk.  We got to the game and had a great time. The minute she knew there was cotton candy there was no hearing the end of it; "Please can I have some, please mom, I'll love you..."  Pretty funny. It was all she could do to eat her dinner (so not a night of healthy food). Soon it was pink stickiness all over, but it sure tasted good.  The Jazz played a good game, though we think Angela liked the gymnastics during half-time and the breaks better.

The train ride home found her new friends to play with - until they got off. Finally seats filled up and a game of "I Spy" started.

  

Happy 5-year day

What do Minnie Mouse cupcakes, 84 hot dogs, and snow cones have in common? -- Angela's 5 - year old birthday party!  Yep, we had a big bash for her turning 5.  It's fun to see all the friends and family.

A friend helped by making the bows and ears out of gum paste, then Lorena and Angela frosted and assembled the cupcakes.  Everyone loved them -they are SO CUTE!! (blame Pinterest for that one - Lorena needs to stay off that, just adds more fun stuff to do.)

Even though we politely asked for no gifts, we had some friends and family that just couldn't stand the thought of that - so she even had a few gifts to open - including books, this water launcher, a bubble blower, a puzzle, books and even an Ariel.  She loves them all.

But the biggest hit of the whole event was the water slide / obstacle course. The kids loved it. The back side of the slide was a fantastic obstacle course they had to go through to get to the slide. The bigger kids found ways to jump on them and have more fun. But it wasn't long before they all realized they could skip the course and enter in the middle to climb up to the slide. Blake tried several times to go down with Angela but she would hear nothing of it. When her friends are around, mom and dad just better stay clear - it is so funny.

Kind of doing this backwards... in the morning, mom and dad took Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder in to her bedroom singing "Happy Birthday" to wake her up. She wasn't too eager to wake up, but once she saw them she was wide awake and happy.

 

We went through 84 hot dogs, lots of snow cone syrup, 5 bags of ice, and over 100 cupcakes. We are confident all the kids slept well after going home, unless they were like Angela who couldn't close her eyes until close to 11:30 - crazy little girl. Just took her some time to settle down and realize it was time to sleep. It was so cute, as she and dad were sitting on the couch, she says, "tomorrow I go to Kindergarten?" She was sadly disappointed when she learned she would have to wait 2 more months for that. She is so excited for school.

We cannot believe Angela is 5 years old!! It has gone so fast and she is growing up such a smart happy little girl. She knows her Heavenly Father loves her and that she is blessed. She is so kind and concerned with other children and tries to help them be happy. She is a friend to everyone she meets. We love her and she blesses our home.

Catching up Volume I: Halloween 2011

We have slacked on many events in Angela's life the last several months, this is the first in a series of catch ups, sorry if the time lines are off.

Another Halloween, usually a holiday we don't really care for but with Angela around it can be entertaining. This year she decided to take a break from her princess' and be Minnie Mouse, so she is still sticking to the Disney themes.  The costume came out great with a little help and a lot of sewing.

Angela was so excited for Trick or Treating that she could hardly contain herself, she saw all the kids running around and wanted to go with them but they were mostly older and it was too hard for her to keep up, with so she was stuck with dad.  She visited all the homes in our neighborhood and wanted to go back to the house to show mom her bounty before going back out.  However, while at home several groups of kids came to our door, it didn't take her long to figure out that it would funner to stay home and hand out candy to the kids then watch them run around ahead of her.  So to keep from having to go back out and trick or treat she planted herself on the living room coach and pretended to read some magazines so she wouldn't be disturbed, then would cheerfully answer the door to generously hand out treats.

Happy Easter

It has been forever since we have blogged about what is going on. We see ourselves as pretty boring - meaning just the normal every day stuff goin on. We are having fun and enjoying the nice spring weather outside. This past week was Easter. We had a nice family dinner - traditional ham, cheesey potatoes, vegies, and homemade rolls.  Lorena made the rolls 1/2 wheat and 1/2 white flour - to not totally ruin them as Blake would put it.  He prefers the all white, but we need some form of healthy once in a while- you know, to balance out all the candy (like bread can do that - not).  After dinner we had a nice walk through the neighborhood. There were others out we got to visit with. We try to help Angela really understand the meaning of Easter, not sure how much she gets, but at least it's a beginning to help her know what her Savior did for her and for us, and for you.

One day while shopping, we found her cute Easter dress.  She was so excited to wear it. Lorena made the hair bow. She even let Lorena fix/curl her hair.

On Saturday, we did two egg hunts.  One was in our neighborhood, the other was at Lorena's sister's House (Aunt Melanie).  Angela is a little timid at first, until she sees all the other, and get encouragement to go find the eggs. Then she's all over it.  Aunt Melanie also does prizes. Some of the eggs have papers with numbers on them which is matched up with a numbered prize. Angela got to bring home a basketball hoop that sticks to the wall. She and her dad had fun playing with it.  It's always fun to see all the cousins, we don't get to see them very often and always look forward to when we do.

 Then of course, after the egg hunt, is play time, especially when theirs swings and cousins!!! We all  had a great Easter Holiday.  Seeing family and remembering our Savior and his sacrifice, and his resurrection, that we will all be able to live again.

Tying Flies

So this past summer we took one of our annual trips to Yellowstone. We always do a trip down the Madison River for some fishing. In preparation for that - Blake ties his own flies. He has a "miracle" fly that will always work and tempt the fish. The guide we use, Mark, loves the fly and hasn't shared it with anyone - pretty funny.  But that is how fishermen are - they rarely share their best secrets.  If a fisherman is sharing anything - it's the known secrets - not the real secrets.

Blake gets out all his equipment and tools, and Angela's eyes just lit up. She was even more excited that her dad has the patience to set her up and get her going on her own fly. She thought that was the best.
